Visiting Scholar Opportunity Antwerp
The USI is offering two full-time visiting scholar positions for a short-term stay of 1–3 months between autumn 2026 and summer 2027 (excluding July and August). Selected scholars will have the opportunity to conduct research in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment, participate in USI research activities, and establish connections with multiple research groups at the University of Antwerp.
The main objectives of the visiting scholar program are:
- To communicate research plans and results to the interdisciplinary research community of the USI.
- To receive feedback and guidance from a select group of interdisciplinary scholars.
- To maintain ongoing dialogue with researchers from diverse disciplines.
Because USI is a network of researchers from different departments, each visiting scholar will be hosted within a specific research group. USI will facilitate collaboration with other relevant groups depending on the scholar’s research plan. Candidates are encouraged to outline the interdisciplinary collaborations they aim to pursue during their stay.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Hold a doctoral degree (PhD) at the time of the planned visit.
- Demonstrate a track record in research on urban issues.
- Have experience in multidisciplinary urban studies research.
- Commit to presenting research and results in at least one seminar and one guest lecture for students.
- Commit to preparing a joint project application or publication with one or more USI members.
