3. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in English (IELTS or TOEFL):
    • General programs: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL 79+
    • Arts, Business & Economics: IELTS 7.0 (no band below 6.5) or TOEFL 94+
  • Eligible candidates include:
    • International students
    • Australian citizens/permanent residents
    • New Zealand citizens
    • Australian humanitarian visa holders
  • Academic background:
    • A four-year bachelor’s degree with research component (Honours 1 or 2A equivalent)
    • Or a Master’s degree with at least 25% research thesis
    • Or qualifications deemed equivalent by Monash Graduate Research Committee
  • Applicants must not have previously held an Australian Government/Monash-funded postgraduate research award for more than six months.
  • Scholarships are awarded based on academic record, research output, and research experience.

Monash Silver Jubilee Scholarship (MSJS):

  • Annual living allowance: AUD $39,820
  • Relocation allowance: AUD $550
  • Research allowance: AUD $1,500 per year

Research Training Program (RTP):

  • Annual living allowance: AUD $33,000
  • Relocation allowance: AUD $1,500

Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS):

  • Annual living allowance: AUD $33,000
  • Relocation allowance: AUD $1,500

7.How to Apply Procedure

  1. Find a Supervisor / Expression of Interest – Before applying, students must secure an invitation from a potential supervisor or faculty.
  2. Register Online – Apply through the Graduate Research Admission & Scholarship portal.
  3. Indicate Scholarship Consideration – Tick the option to be considered for scholarships in the online form (no separate form required).
  4. Submit Documents – Upload all required documents.

Automatic Consideration – Applicants are automatically considered for all eligible Monash scholarships
